This journal entry is a brief "at a glance" documentation of the offspring born here at Ravenseyrie from 2008 to 2011.
As you look through the foals born here and see their development to date, what do you see?
For today, just a quick comparison, beginning with the very first foal to be born at Ravenseyrie and moving through the years.

It should be noted here that in 2011 Belina gave birth to a stillborn colt by Altamiro. Espirito was a solid grullo with shoulder and leg stripes. When the foals are born, they don't right away show their convex profiles (of which all the Ravenseyrie offspring have) and their foals coats often cover up the degree of striping they may have. Though varying in shades, all of the Ravenseyrie offspring are grulla, with the very dark variants (Fada and Interessado) having the effect of making their primitive markings indiscernible.
This comparison is limited in showing overall conformation due to the fact that most of the offspring are under three years old, but as they mature we should be able to show that there is not just homogeneity in their long slender faces with convex profiles, but also in the rest of their morphological shape.
Something completely unscientific, but interesting to me on a couple of different levels, is the way each of these exquisite Ravenseyrie youngsters look at me--even at a very young age, there is a presence of great intelligence, nobility and sense of self that is decidedly impressive.

GREAT wild bunch !
and since you and Kevin made this possible you must be great too, you two !
Lynne, what a wonderful blog entry! They are absolutely gorgeous. It is so great to see what those tiny little babies turn into.

I could not agree more. Some people might say that you see horses on these photos, but I see personalities. All different and all unique, but personalities they are. And you captured them like the wonderful artist you are.

Hi Lynn,
Yes, I can see the intelligence, sensitivity, and Serenity. The serenity emanating from these beautiful creatures overwhelmes me. I think that your heart and thiers must be touching when you take the photographs and it comes through in picture.
The light coloured babies with the black rimmed eyes are stunning, they all are!
Thank you for sharing your amazing journey, with these equally amazing spirits; your family of horses.
Best, Christine
Peter, thank you for your enthusiastic comment! Yes they are a great wild bunch. Kevin and I are not great like that...rather, we very ordinary, just willing to give horses like this a place to live and develop and carry on their great and wonderful horsey lives. They sure have made our lives feel great though, it is terrific to share space with these horses!
Miek, I think they are gorgeous, too! I never, NEVER tire of seeing them out on the landscape, they continue to take my breath away with how lovely they are. And so fun to interact with!

You made my day writing this! Because this is how I feel when among them...that our hearts touch--so different than how I used to be with horses back when I thought I had to "be the boss".
Thank you all for reading and taking time to leave your comments, they are SO appreciated!
I'm so happy to give something back, for all that you've shared.
Of course, I could only have known, because, my heart also, was touched!
